Honesty and trust is a key theme in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Every characters had issues of trust as well as honesty with one another. Christopher has Asperger syndrome had mild form of autism is convinced that he does not lies. Christopher requires other people to be honest with him. Honesty tends to be the basis of him to have the ability to trust others as well as build a relationship. Though the condition Christopher is suffering from is not fully mentioned in the novel. The reader grasps that honesty is an essential factor in his life, if it be despite or because of him having Asperger’s.
Form this novel “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time” in addition to the theme of honesty, the theme of love, truth and security has been well brought out. This is associated with the theme of honesty since they are all used to build a relationships. Throughout the story, Christopher who is the protagonist has been used to bring out how truth is an integral part of the world and thinks that it is right as well as wrong. Christopher is always carrying a Swiss Army knife which is used to symbolize safety. He tends to be aware of the physical safety due to the struggles to protect himself emotions.
From “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” magical realism are used in the novel to describe trust and honesty issues. Christopher mostly finds solace in interacting with animals and brings out major consternation when he sees them endangered. Christopher engages with animals readily since he identifies them easier to comprehend than people. Animals mainly serve as a foundation for trust between Christopher and other human beings. In this essay we will discuss the theme of honesty and its connection to the theme of love and safety from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.
