I thought I would challenge you a bit with some new thinking about organizations and leadership for the next assignment. Complexity, change, and complex adaptive systems are concepts that are being found more and more often in the leadership and organizational literature and the readings of many courses in leadership. I think you’ll see that these ideas are particularly applicable when considering the complex organizations and systems we have in the world of health care.

Work independently to develop a 5-page essay that reacts to and applies the concepts presented in the readings (Provided in the E-Resources section on the course menu). You might discuss how you see the concepts at play in your life or work, look at your own organization through the complexity lens or incorporate ideas from the readings into a plan for change in some aspect of your organization. This paper need not be supported by references other than the assigned readings – but make sure that you list them as references for this assignment.
