At some point in your essay consider Tina Chen?s essay ?Towards an Ethics of Knowledge? and address her discussion of Otsuka?s novel and the reader?s reactions; respond to at least one of her points. Do you agree with Chen? Do you disagree? Explain and use supporting evidence from the last chapter of the novel.
? After your concluding paragraph add a ?SELF REFLECTION? (one paragraph)?describe your own subject position and your reactions to 1) the events and descriptions in the novel and 2) the father?s confession. Where do you ?fit? in the world of this novel? Which characters (if any) do you / can you identify with? Which cultural identity issues, personal experiences, political positions, ideals do you / can you relate to?
? Consider addressing points by made your peers in the Discussion Board(s) if relevant. Be sure to identify the author and put quotations from their posts in quotation marks. TOPIC A. Character Development?Dynamic Characters > Follow one character?either the mother or the daughter or the son?through the novel. How does this character change?in what specific respects is the character affected by the internment experience and the treatment of the family more broadly?
