Instructions
Purpose
Paper 2 requires the selection of a sociology research article that meets several conditions. In this prerequisite activity you will identify and seek approval of your article choice before you begin writing Paper 2.
Tasks
· Review the conditions for an appropriate Paper 2 article, under Tasks on the
Paper 2 Assignment
. (You will probably want to download the Paper 2 Assignment.)
· View the following video on how to find an article through UW libraries and Sociological Abstracts (captions provided).

· Do some searching to find an article that meets the conditions and that interests you. Make a note of how your selection meets each condition.
· Copy the abstract and article citation.
· Submit the article citation in APA format, and its abstract (copied/cut and pasted), for pre-approval, and explain how the Paper 2 conditions are met. (If it is not made clear how the conditions are met, or your instructor has to look for them, you may not earn a full score.)
Criteria for success:
A full score of 5 means you have successfully used APA format, shown the abstract, explained how the conditions listed on the Paper 2 Assignment handout are met by your choice. A score of 5 points means the article has been approved for Paper 2. If you earn less than 5, your article may or may not be approved, or you may not have successfully indicated how the conditions were met, or may not have used APA style correctly. You will receive a submission comment that indicates whether or not you may proceed with the article for Paper 2. You may resubmit your prerequisite before you begin your paper.
The points earned here will count towards your Paper 2 score.
What is your selected article for Paper 2?
For full credit, in your answer, provide:
· Article’s full citation (in APA format)
· Article’s abstract, copied and pasted.
· You may also provide a weblink to the record, abstract, article but usually this can’t be opened directly without logging in, so do not rely on this for the abstract that you are submitting.
· Explanation for why you have selected this article, listing out the conditions/criteria for Paper 2 and detailing how your chosen article meets these conditions.
Once your prerequisite has been graded/approved, you may proceed with Paper 2.
