Between democratic and totalitarian states are very polar opposites. Being in a democracy setting is being ruled by the people whereas totalitarianism is ruled and controlled by the government.

There has not been a time where controlled states and countries had a positive outcome which is why many countries with that form of government has been overturned.

The assumed best way is to aggressively promote democracy to these states until they change their course. Obviously some states will keep ignoring those ideas and keep it totalitarian. Places like The United States should give reasons why democratic systems are the beneficial. One is that it obviously helps out its citizens by allowing the country or state to be run at their own pace and not to be relied on the government. Another reason is the economy and reliability of becoming economic partners, because not only internal markets will produce more GDP and income, but in a globalization sense it will bring more nations together as partners and keep bringing in more goods and services. And speaking of bringing nations together, nothing is more fundamental than having peace with both neighboring and far away countries which will then open more roads.

In terms of trade policy, I do not see why it will hurt totalitarian countries more than they already are. Putting taxes and limits on imports can possibly grow more from within the state. Even though it sounds like it might be another reason to get controlled, it opens more opportunities for their citizens.

History shows that independent countries that embrace economic reform have positive economic growth rates. The U.S and other democratic countries should lead by example. In other words, these developed nations should invest in their people through education to reduce the supply of unskilled workers, small and medium size businesses, and utilize their resources to help move towards a global economy. However, countries? cultures, political systems, economic systems, legal systems, are different, and some people don?t like change, or find it more of a financial burden.

In my readings, many economics, politicians, and business leaders, claim that the richest countries can help the poorest nations by reducing barriers and high tariffs on exports that make it more difficult for poor countries to participate in international transactions, which ultimately leads to less foreign investments. They also argue that the global economy is reinforced by the widespread adoption of liberal economic policies, and it is navigating the global economy toward greater prosperity.

In my view, countries should use trade policy as a mechanism for change, to help increase international trade and cross-border investments, that will result in lower prices for goods and services. In my opinion, globalization stimulates economic growth, raises the incomes of consumers, and helps create jobs in all countries that participate in international trading.
