Semester Project Step 3: Compare/Contrast
Requirements: 3 full pages in MLA formatting (12 pt. Times New Roman, 1” margins, etc.) +
Due Date: Check Syllabus
Context (explanation): While your core paper now has the basic element of support, we need to include more voices to provide some alternate perspectives while deepening the conversation

The assignment: Topics are rarely explored and discussed by a lone individual. For every field there are thousands of scholars discussing, debating, and writing. For this assignment, you will compare and contrast two popular sources that discuss your chosen topic. You want to make sure you pick two texts that explore the same topic/argument. Make sure you are also organizing your paper in an effective fashion (revisit the textbook’s section on compare/contrast).
Grading: This paper will be graded by the standard rubric.

Tips:
?Pick sources that are closely related, but not too repetitive. If you choose two articles that discuss the EXACT same points in the exact same fashion, it will be hard to analyze
?One of the sources can be a visual text (documentary/TED talk/Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Clip/etc)
?The hardest part of a compare/contrast is organization. Please use the readings to help guide your assignment.
?This paper will follow standard scholarly formatting: introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion.
?You will be integrating parts of this essay into your core paper. Make sure you are integrating the sections in an effective fashion.
