Discussion:
Read the case study about Norwalk, Connecticut, from the Squires (2014) reading.
Write an original post that discusses:
a brief description of the curriculum from the case study
an analysis of the process used to improve the curriculum
a discussion of what you would have done the same/differently if you were an educational leader in Norwalk.
Be sure to incorporate and cite background readings in your post.
Respond to at least 3 classmates posts (by posing thoughtful questions, extending their arguments, incorporating sources, and otherwise adding to the substance of their posts; your responses should not merely repeat what others have said).
Case
Use the readings in Module 1 and any other relevant sources to write a 3- to 4-page paper that responds to the following question: What is curriculum? Include a discussion of the components of curriculum and the types of curriculum. Support all points you make with material from the background readings. Be sure to utilize proper APA formatting for your paper and citations.
SLP:
The SLP is a Session Long Project that builds with each module. It is recommended that you read the prompt for all four SLPs before beginning your Module 1 SLP.
In Module 1, you will select a curriculum that you will analyze and improve over the four modules in this course. The more familiar you are with this curriculum, the better. You will be asked to redesign/improve this curriculum in upcoming modules, so be sure to select a curriculum that has room for improvement. For Module 1, you should write a 3- to 5-page paper that tells the story of this curriculum. Your paper should:
Introduce/describe the curriculum youve chosen (be sure to include a discussion of the curriculums components).
Describe the curriculums relationship to the standards (especially Common Core or Next Generation Science Standards).
Explain the underlying philosophy and history of this curriculum.
Identify potential strengths and weaknesses of this curriculum.
Be sure to utilize proper APA formatting for your paper and citations
