CLASSMATE’S POST- “Sleep is important for everyone but mainly for teenagers mostly because it’s the period where the brain and body start to develop. Like it is mentioned in the article that’s when it brings out the important of adulthood. “It brings important changes that affect emotions, personality, social and family life, and academics.” Sleeping is also important for many reasons such as thinking, mental health, physical and making decisions. Sleeping is important because it helps you concentrate and studying for school. When you don’t sleep well you aren’t paying attention in school and can harm the student’s education. It is mentioned in the article that “Mental health disorders like anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder have

routinely been linked to poor sleep

, and sleep deprivation in teens can increase the risk of suicide.” That’s why it’s important to sleep well so it doesn’t cause any others harms such as physically or even in taking decisions.

It is also said that many teenagers are not getting enough sleep it’s recommended to sleep 8-10 hours per sleep a night but not everyone is getting all that sleep. In the article it is stated ” the 2006 Sleep in America Poll by the National Sleep Foundation, 45% of adolescents reported getting less than eight hours per night.” Many high schoolers are the ones that don’t get enough sleep. For many reasons can be overthinking, school work or even their personal life. I also believe another reason of lack of sleep is using the electronics everyone now has a phone and can be used for many different things such as calling, texting, social media or even watching movies can cause to sleep late.

Teenagers can sleep better by talking to doctors on what they can do to sleep better they can get help on what they can do. Some of the ways to sleep better is planning out your day and adding those 8 hours to your schedule. Also putting away the phone so you aren’t tempted in using it or even checking. For example one of the others things that helps me sleep is not eating sweets such as chocolate or sodas because that makes my sleep go away. So when I know it’s night I try to avoid things that I eat so I can have a better sleep.”
