Its a one page short answer essay..1.Imagine you are a practicing Public Health Professional in a disadvantaged community.  There is an abandoned industrial site that is badly contaminated with chemicals.  Fortunately for the community, they have a city water system and do not rely on the local ground water for their drinking water.
A group of scientists come in and test the soil and shallow groundwater.  They release a report full of technical jargon, advanced statistics, and hard to understand recommendations.  They then go off to do the same thing somewhere else and you are left to deal with a confused community.
Because you took this class, the Mayor appoints you to be in charge of public outreach.  You are ?invited? to a public meeting and are asked the the questions below.  You quickly realize that these questions all relate back to routes of exposure.
You are asked the following questions:
1.  Could we plant a community garden on the site?
2.  Our children take a short cut to school through this site, are they at risk?
3.  If my basement smells funny, could the chemicals be getting into my house?
INSTRUCTIONS:  Write down what you would say when answering these questions.  Do not write things like, ?I would explain the dose response curve?..?
Please assume that the people at this meeting are mostly adults with a high school education, your answers will be graded on whether your language and explanations are suited for this particular audience. Points will be deducted if you use technical terms without explaining them.  You may want to use what you have learned about the Ringwood and Houston cancer clusters to answer these questions.
Extra points if you can explain how understanding the concept of Route of Exposure will help people understand the answers to these questions.
Points will be deducted if you use technical terms like Koc or Kow without explaining them.
2.What is the most important difference between the Koc and Kow in terms of protecting public health?
Short answer please!
