I’m a social work intern: we offer services targeting the population of South Florida. We help people. we have around 25 households we normally make phone calls, household, and telehealth visits, to find out how the client is doing and help them with any current need they have, such as housing/rent, applying for medical insurance, food pantries, transportation, diapers, applying for section 8 (housing in Miami), long-term Medicaid, Food stamps, legal and therapy referrals, and more resources. We also do Biopsychosocial Assessments and learn how to do them correctly in order to learn as future social workers. We also provide emotional support to the client. We help people regardless of their immigration status (we do not deny help to the undocumented) As interns we do supervision groups, and we normally talk about each of the cases we have for an hour. Our supervisors also care about us as students, they recommend self-care since many of us work and study at the same time.

You can use this for PART B or C:

This is to know a little bit about me: (to know more about me and my family origin please see the assignment of Cultural identity)

I am a female of 28 years old, and I was born in Colombia. I came to the United States of America with my parents looking for a better future and I have lived in the United States for almost 13 years. Currently, I live in Miami Florida, and I am majoring in social work.

I’m a transfer student from Miami Dade College. First, I was majoring in early childhood education but then I switch to social work. This is my last semester and will be graduating in the summer term. I always knew that I wanted to work with children but also with victim advocacy. I work full-time; I go to school and I’m 30 weeks pregnant (with my first child). I’m earning to do my master's in the spring semester, I'm not sure if I would do it online or in person yet due to my pregnancy but I would like to find a job with my bachelors and try the field first. I believe that we are capable of everything. I think have some of the competencies but not all of them. I would like to enter more in the field and gain more experience so we can letter more about the social work system.
