We should all care about environmental health for various reasons. Silverglade Homes’ focus is environmental sustainability. Although in theory, we would all like to help the environment, doing so is not always affordable. Brian, the founder of Silverglade homes knows the benefits of green homes through the seminar he attended at the National Association of Home Builders in Orlando. However, the average customer does not have the understanding to invest or even look into those types of homes. The first thought that comes to mind for me when I hear greenhouse, is expensive. Although the term “greenhouse” sounds environmentally appealing, I’d be more focused on cost than being green. I think the best marketing philosophy for Silverglade homes is market orientation. He should invest time to educate realtors and homebuyers about the benefits that greenhouses offer for customers and the environment. Since these types of homes are new, the average person wouldn’t know the concept behind greenhomes. I think Brian’s idea about partnering with the local newspaper is a great way to introduce greenhouse homes to local people which can create traffic at his homes for sale. We are used to the societal marketing of average homes therefore, we usually go for what has been around but if we are properly educated on greenhomes. We just might make the switch!
