A. Write a short reflection (a few paragraphs) on Dr. Adkins’ article. You may choose whatever aspect was raised that is important, thought-provoking, resonated with you, you aspire to, or was simply interesting to you. Maybe you agree or disagree with one or more point raised; maybe you want to learn more about one or more topic; maybe you have ideas for how to move forward in shalom with others (people or non-humans); etc.
B. Dr. Adkins mentioned an assignment they give in class–to find a piece of plastic litter on the way to class and take it home. Please do that this week. If you are working in the hospital, please feel free to consider a piece of (safe!) plastic waste that is routinely disposed of at the hospital, too (e.g. tops of vials, needle sheaths, etc). I’ll borrow Dr. Adkins’ assignment and encourage you to “put [the plastic litter] in an honored place in [your room]. . . . [C]ontemplate the garbage” until you are “able to see its beauty.” Try to find a new purpose for it! You will write a reflection on this next week.
