Maternal Complication Interview
1.
Find a family member, faculty, classmate, or stranger that experienced complications during
labor, birth, or postpartum. Complications can include, but are not limited to:
a.
Dystocia
b.
Amniofusion
c.
Pre-term birth
d.
Hypertension
e.
Fetal malpresentation
f.
Nuchal cord
g.
Oligohydramnios, hydramnios, meconium stained amniotic fluid
h.
Placenta previa, placental abruption

Disseminated intravascular coagulation
j.
Rupture of the uterus
k.
Umbilical cord prolapse
l.
The list goes on and on……
2.
Interview the patient using the template given to you.
3.
In a separate word document, present the information you found researching the medical
diagnosis. Use APA format to present all information. Cite your sources, you should have a
minimum of three! This is a research paper!
4.
Your nursing diagnosis should be on a separate page and include one physical and one
psychosocial diagnosis along with at least three nursing interventions and an explanation on
how you would evaluate if your interventions were successful.
