WRITE: Job Search Memo Using the Template and the Sample Memo Belo
Your task is use the template and sample memo below this assignment to write a job search memo.
To do so, research solicited job announcements. In addition to browsing online job announcements, you may search company websites, or job search
websites to find potential jobs or internships.
Next week, you will choose one of these jobs/internships to keep in mind as you write your resume. The week after, you will write a cover letter address
to that job/internship.
You should be keeping this job/internship in mind as you write your resume too.
1. Using the information from your “My Career Goals” forum, search jobs or internships that are a “step up? toward your career goal from the job
you have now.
By a “step up,” I mean the next move toward your future career. It might mean a promotion at your current job, or an entry-level internship in your
(potential) future career field.
This needs to be a position that you have never held, but, based on your experience so far, you are qualified to apply for AND that you
would be able to work at RIGHT NOW (while you are in school or during the summer).
Or, if you have never had a job, you may choose an entry-level job or internship.
Please ask me if you are not sure what a “next step” is for you.
2. Find THREE possible jobs or internships that you would like to apply for (now or later in the semester).
3. Download the “Job Search Memo Template” below this assignment.
4. In the template, type a memo describing the three potential jobs/internships and why you have chosen them.
Follow the template exactly, though you can change the font if you would like, making sure to use a clean, professional-looking font.
5. As you write, and before you upload the document, review the rubric below.
6. Upload the document here, in Word format.
