Description

You are conducting field research on gender differences in nonverbal communication styles. ?How are you going to account for variations among age, race, and social class??

In the textbook, nonverbal communication was defined as is the transfer of information between persons without the use of words. It contains visual, vocal, and environmental factors that influence meaning. Not only facial expressions but head movements, body postures, as well as other gestures contain as much importance as our verbal words in our interactions with each other.

Studying

nonverbal communication in a field is difficult. Especially when accounting for variations such as age, race, and social

class

. However, these factors can be recorded in

tables

with descriptions, and frequencies of the nonverbal behavior can be represented in

tables

. Visual communication is largely the same for both males and females, although there does appear to be substantial patterns of variances between the two genders when it comes to nonverbal, spoken, and visual modes of communication. For example, women use more facial expressions than men, and men smile less than women. These distinctions are mostly functional

due

to differences in how men’s and women’s brains are wired. A male’s brain is better suited to respond to visual forms of communication, whereas a female’s brain is more suited to react to verbal forms of communication. Men are also better nonverbal communicators than women.

Nonverbal communication is being able to communicate with someone without speaking to them. Examples would be face gesture, personal distance and sense of time. We see that women are different in communication than men. They have more of a softer tone and can express their emotions through different ways. We can confuse nonverval communication with judgeing because we are trying to think about someone. When it comes to nonverval communication culture can change it. In europe it is normal to kiss someone on the cheek as nonverval communication. Within gender we can see that with kids, they are energetic, loud, and always in a happy mood when seeing each other. older people want more peace, calm and quiet. We can see that it is different from each other. When it comes to social

class

we can see that people who are in the upperclass, they are more calm, mannered, and fancy like. While middle

class

can be a little loud, reckless and little polished in mannerism.
