Outline Essay about Text and Driving
Introduction
Driver distraction is the condition of being neglectful or inattentive while driving or an activity that diverts the driver’s attention away from the job of controlling the vehicle. According to research, driver distraction is described as attention being paid to non-driving related activities or things, often to the disadvantage of driving competence and performance. Various activities may divert a driver’s focus away from the main duty of steering. Texting on a cell phone, eating, and manipulating the infotainment or temperature control systems are all examples of activities that induce disruptions to varying degrees (Lyon et al., 2021). Therefore, texting and driving affects the drivers’ safety as well as puts the lives of pedestrians to danger since the interruptions may lead to injuries and car crashes. Due to the diversion of attention evident in drivers, while driving, safety on the roads has been compromised. The most dangerous interruption, while someone is driving is text messaging. Various drivers have been interrupted while on the road by talking to others on the phone or checking and replying to text messages hence leading to accidents. The increasing number of people who are texting and driving has been detrimental to the well-being of everyone. Being a responsible driver is our responsibility, and it is our job to stop using devices while driving. It is advisable for the drivers to be keen on their driving tasks to avoid injuries and crashes that may arise when they are sending messages, emails or when they are trying to pick up calls from their friends. Concentrating much on the phone while driving puts the lives of innocent pedestrians in danger.
