Watch the Film: Thirteenth (link below) then write 1-1.5 pages max response analyzing the justice issue
addressed in documentary film then address the following question 1. The film discusses the power of
the media in shaping people?s opinions and actions. For example, the use of the term ?super predator? in
mass media resulted in an identity shift among people of color. Do you agree that media has a strong
influence over the actions and opinions of society? What are some examples you can think of from
today?2. Did the film change any of your ideas about the prison system in America? Affirm any ideas you
already had? If so, in what way?.
Paper must be single-spaced, 12-point font, with one-inch margins all around.
Work must be well written with clear, challenging, original ideas supported with convincing, logical
arguments, including relevant counterarguments and refutations relying on enough appropriate
evidence. Well organized, logical, and demonstrates a high-level command of writing mechanics. Work
should be of outstanding quality in ideas and presentation.
