Read and/or listen to “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe, and select one poem from the Poetry Foundation’s Hallowe’en Poems.

Then answer the following about both poems:

What is the poem about?
What does the poem symbolize?
What is the purpose of the poem: to describe, amuse, entertain, narrate, inform, express grief, celebrate or commemorate?
What is the tone of the poem? Is it sad, happy, melancholy, or bitter?
After you have made these preliminary notes, compare and contrast the two poems in 400 words, pointing to specific words or lines from the text. Please don’t include your preliminary notes in your submission; those are for you to think about before you begin to write. Make sure to clearly link your answer to the questions above. End your post with a full MLA citation of the two selected texts.
