Hi there, Please carefully read the primary source passage and writing tips to write the template carefully.
I have chosen the research topic and research question:
Topic: This research essay will explore China?s self-strengthening policies in the late Qing?s dynasty.
Research Question: What is the ruler?s opinion?
And please write the template based on the topic and research question.
Template for Research Proposal
Basically, what we want you to do is to plan the steps you need to take in order to write the
best paper you have ever written.
1) Include your topic (if you have revised your topic then included the most recent
version).
2) Include your research question (if you have revised your research question then include
the most recent question).
3) What to do next? You have to start collecting your research material. At this point you
do not need to know exactly which sources you will use, but you do need to know what
type of sources you need, and where you are likely to find those sources.
a. How many books are you planning to use?
b. How many articles are you planning to use?
c. How many primary sources are you planning to use?
d. Are all your sources in print, or are there other types of resources (visual, video,
audio, interviews) that are useful?
e. What is your plan to get these resources? Are they in the library, or do you have
to look elsewhere? Is the material currently available or do you have to reserve
it, or order it through RACER (interlibrary loan)?
4) What is your research schedule? How many days will be spent to complete the
research? Where will you do the research? How will you do the research?
5) The next part of your research proposal is to plan the writing stage.
6) Considering the availability of sources, and the time available to do it, do your think that
the paper is manageable? If not, what should you do to make it manageable?
7) What is your actual writing schedule? As Rampolla advises, write as you read. When will
start to actually write-read? When will you finish the first draft? When will you finish the
second draft?
8) Proofreading. Who will proofread your final draft? (Please note that the writing center is
not a proofreading service).
