Before starting the experiment, I had expectations going into it. I knew we would need to call 911 ahead of time because there has to be one person who would be concerned enough to wait for an officer to take the baby away from the unfit parent who left the baby carriage in the middle of an aisle. Sadly I was wrong, very few people even noticed that there was a carriage in the middle of the aisle sitting alone. As long as it wasn?t in the way of people getting what they needed to check out in a timely manner seemed like no one cared at all. When people hear about bad situations and ways in which they could be stopped. Everyone always says the right things but when it comes down to it all it?s just noise. Nowadays all people do is talk and it?s old & cheap. Talk on social media about Ukraine & what they?d do to help stop Putin or talk about sex trafficking & if they had seen a little boy doing sign language signaling for help they would know how to react & save the boy but at the end of the day. It?s all talk, & it?s so cheap. This experiment has given me a clear set of eyes to read through the bullshit of what type of world we live in today. People in America today are taught to turn an eye off the things we should be concerned about. We are taught to focus on ourselves & be selfish with our time. We are taught to care about the things that are bad in the world but that it isn?t our job to do anything about it but talk. Talking isn?t going to fix our problems actions is what will fix the world. It was such a shock to me that it put a bad taste in my mouth. Mothers, Grandparents, Students all walked by without any clue of what was going on. In one part of the experiment, a girl got a phone call put the baby carriage down on the ground, and walked away while talking on the phone. Two students looked at the carriage talked about it as they walked away. What if there was an actual living being in the carriage & no one did anything about it? My group and I work together great. So far we haven?t had challenges in our group & hoping we won?t have any throughout the
semester. What I would like to do differently next time, is put a baby crying noise in the carriage & see how people will react at a coffee shop or someplace like that.
