Description

Activity 1: Find the evidence.

In this activity students will explore two specific emotions: Peace and Tranquility. Students will read the articles below before starting their own research. The first article is by Zoe Peterson, “Picasso: Peace and Freedom;” view Peterson’s article here:

The second article is by Robert Jolly, “George Inness’s Swedenborgian Dimension”.

Activity 2: Uncover the art.

Students will depict Peace and Tranquillity through artwork they find online. From the reading material, it is clear that what is considered “peaceful” or “tranquil” can mean something completely different from one person to the next.

Activity 3: Present your findings.

Students will submit a 1-2 page write-up of their findings (including the images) to Moodle. The short paper should include why these images represent peace and tranquility to you.

Project assignment:

Students will present the result of their findings and explain the rationale for their choices in the final project (due week 9). Final Project guidelines and objectives can be found in the “Important Documents” section on the right-hand side of the course shell.
