Nonprofit Appeal & Infographic
Your assignment is to draft a fundraising appeal for a nonprofit of your choice. This document builds your
organization?s case for support and is used to motivate potential donors to give to your organization. This
assignment is worth 20 points.
Guidelines
Tell your organization?s story.
Build your organization?s case for support. Why should someone donate to your cause?
Address the following:
Who is your organization?
What is the problem the organization is trying to solve? What is the proposed solution?
What are the organization?s plans for the future? What are their goals?
How will donations be used to reach these goals and objectives?
How can the donor participate? How much money is needed?
Infographic
Because an appeal includes visual elements in addition to persuasive copy, your nonprofit appeal must
include an infographic that helps tell the nonprofit?s story and how donations will be used. Make sure to
keep the infographic simple and substantiated by your research. Include a call to action. Make a sketch
of the infographic before you create it online. Consider the visual design principles and pay special
attention to the following:
Adequate font size
Easy to read font type (sans serif)
Consistency with font and visuals
Sharp contrast between the font color and background text
You will need to cite your sources using footnotes on the infographic that correspond with the references
on your APA reference sheet. Find and cite the original sources (e.g., cite the CDC for statistics about
drowning rather than the USA Swimming website that cites the CDC). You do not need to cite
information that is general knowledge (e.g., once you have diabetes, you have to monitor your blood
sugar several times a day).

assignment. Piktochart (http://piktochart.com/) and InDesign are also acceptable and will need to
submit these files in PDF format.

Website*
*For most topics, you will only be able to use websites that originally produce research, such as the
Mayo Clinic. An example of an exception would be for an infographic that encourages a donation and the
source could be the nonprofit organization?s explanation of how far a donation goes. Another example of
an exception would be a product comparison.
